An amazing £1million Georgian mansion that has been transformed in recent years could be yours – for just £2.50.
Guy and Julie Vass snapped up Melling Hall in Carnforth, Lancashire, when it was a wreck 18 years ago.
And they have spent the last decade – and £200,000 – restoring the crumbling Grade II listed property to its former glory, reports the Liverpool Echo.
But now their two sons have moved out, the couple are looking to downsize and planning to raffle the property – which was recently valued at £930,000 – with some of the proceeds going to the NHS and hospice charities.
Retired clothing businessman Guy, 66, said: “When we first bought the Hall it was in desperate need of TLC.
“We used only local craftsmen and worked hard ourselves to bring the house back to what you can see today. It’s now ready for the next 250 years.”
The house comes with sweeping gravel driveway, huge designer kitchen, three en-suite double bedrooms and even a former butler’s sitting room.
The lucky winner will also have the keys to a two-bed self-contained apartment on the top floor of the house.
Julie, 62, a manager of a local GP practice, said she hoped enough raffle tickets would be sold to give up to £200,000 to good causes.
She said: “The house is just a fantastic place to live. It gives you everything you could want in a house – great style, tons of space and lots of fun.”
The second prize also nets you £5,000, which will be shared between the two entrants who generate the highest number of sales by informing other people of the draw.
The draw will take place on September 15 and tickets can be bought via www.winacountryhall.com.
