Prime Minister Boris Johnson will make a live announcement to the nation on Thursday night.
The Prime Minister’s Downing Street address comes after Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced the new tier system for England.
The health secretary’s announcement in parliament at 11:30 am will decide which layer each area of the country will go into.
It is believed that Tier One will be imposed almost anywhere in the country – the lowest level of restrictions.
Later today, Mr. Johnson will conduct a live press conference from Downing Street.
The timing of the announcement is not set, but it usually happens at 5:00 PM.
The previous week had been delayed to 7pm.
The briefing was confirmed by Chancellor Rishi Sunak on Thursday morning.
People will “see a difference” when England’s national lockdown ends next week, Mr Sunak said, despite the expectation that most of the country will fall under Tier 2.
The Chancellor told Sky News, “Whatever level you are in, I think people will see tangible change.
“That said, things are clearly not normal and I can’t pretend that next week things will feel like they were before spring.”
Mr Sunak confirmed that Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be leading a press conference in Downing Street later on Thursday.
