Prime Minister Boris Johnson is to make a national televised statement live from Downing Street on Thursday afternoon.
The Prime Minister last spoke to the nation on Saturday when he announced that England would be going into a second national lockdown from today, Thursday.
His announcement from Downing Street comes on the day coronavirus lockdown laws came into force – meaning all non-essential businesses will be closed until December 2.
And it comes on the day Chancellor Rishi Sunak is announcing changes to the furlough rules which will see the payment scheme extended to all UK national, and beyond the December 2 lockdown date.
Mr Johnson will give the latest update on coronavirus figures across the country and will provide an update on the latest coronavirus lockdown law changes.
The 5pm announcement will include chief executive of the NHS Sir Simon Stevens.
