Boy, 3, dies after accidentally shooting himself in head as family pay tribute

A three-year-old boy who died tragically after shooting himself in the head was first depicted.

The toddler reportedly shot himself with a semiautomatic pistol during the horrific accident.

Coroner has identified the youngster as Liam Myers, who was rushed to the hospital where medics competed to save him.

Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead an hour after the tragic incident.

The toddler’s mother, aged 22, was reportedly among several adults in an apartment in the Wyndham Pointe complex in Columbia, South Carolina, when they heard a shot from another room.

When representatives of Richland County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene at about 6:00 PM, Liam had already been taken to hospital.

WISTV the witnesses were told by witnesses that the child had been hit in the head by the bullet.

It’s unclear how he got access to the loaded firearm, but police later confirmed that it had been found by officers under a mattress – with an edited report seen by the Daily mail describe it as a Glock 45.

Officials say the apartment was not the boy’s house.

His aunt was one of the family members who posted on Facebook to honor him.

“Rest in heaven, young king, I love you, little boy,” she said.

While Liam’s father Devin Myers revealed that he had spoken to his son on the phone an hour earlier, the little boy asked him to stay over at his house.

“Now you can always be with Dad and watch and protect me,” added Mr. Myers.

It is believed that no one has been arrested or charged with the child’s death.

In August 2019, Myers – a black man – appeared in a Facebook Live video that went viral and showed that he was being held by police after a white woman reported him for looking “suspiciously” at her.

One of the officers involved later resigned after the incident led to a civil rights probe by the Attorney General.
