The mutilated body of a toddler discovered in South Africa led to the arrest of the child’s father after the gruesome murder.
The three-year-old boy was found dead with a nail through the head, and his eyes and genitals were removed in a sickening murder.
His mutilated body was found on November 27 at the home of 38-year-old Themba Majozi in the Thembalihle neighborhood of Estcourt in South Africa.
Majozi has since been arrested in connection with the discovery.
Details of the heinous crime have been shared by local news outlets where the toddler went missing on Nov. 27 after a man picked him up from his grandmother at 9 a.m.
The unnamed man is said to be ‘known’ to the grandmother – with the relative worrying when the young boy did not return that evening.
Relatives then began a search for the boy, with waZulu-Natal police spokesman Captain Nqobile Gwala revealing that his body had been found “dumped in the bush in a terrible state.”
Social Development KwaZulu-Natal MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza provided details on the injuries of the young child.
The Sun reports Khoza stated, “A nail was driven through his skull and his eyes and genitals were removed.
“The police must quickly complete the investigation and arrest the perpetrators involved in this murder of an innocent child.”
They added: “The police investigation should delve deeper into how this child went missing from his home while left in the care of his father.
“This is tragic and the family must end this murder.”
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula has condemned the violent murder.
He said, “I am glad the suspect is behind bars for his evil deeds.”
