UK holiday giant Butlin’s has put back the planned reopening of its three resorts saying there has not been enough clarity from the Government.
Butlin’s had been planning to reopen its sites in Minehead, Bognor and Skegness on July 16 – but that has now been scrapped.
The move comes after the Government allowed the reopening of holiday accommodation, but banned live entertainment and swimming pools, reports the Mirror.
A message on the Butlin’s website now says: “Following last week’s announcement from the Government on the continued closure of pools and live entertainment, we have been waiting for further clarification on when and how we can open these facilities for you.
“Sadly we haven’t had a further update, and with breaks fast-approaching, we have now extended the closure of our resorts to the 23rd July.”
For people who have breaks booked after the 23rd July Butlin’s will give them a minimum of 14 days notice if there are any changes.
Butlins’ Coronavirus Book with Confidence Guarantee allows guests to move their break or request a full refund between 3 and 28 days prior to their arrival date.
The message on the Butlin’s website added: “We know this is an unsettling time.
“We’d like to assure you we continue to have discussions around opening very soon and are exploring different ways to bring you the Butlin’s experience we know you’re looking forward to.”
The parks have been busy getting ready for their reopening with a number of safety measures being put in place.
The experience has been completely transformed – with parks now running drive-through check ins.
One day before arrival, you’ll be told which entrance to pick up your key from.
Hand sanitising stations will be spotted around the park, and capacity at entertainment shows will be reduced.
The fairground will be open, with riders asked to sanitise your hands between rides, and the capacity limited
Restaurants are set to reopen with the number of diners reduced to ensure social distancing can be followed.
Rooms will be sanitised and sealed between guests, and housekeeping won’t enter accommodation during your stay.
