A German café has encouraged customers to abide by the social distance rules by asking them to wear hats with pool noodles attached to them.
Cafe & Konditorei Rothe in Schwerin, Germany introduced the unique idea as a way to try to ensure that customers stay two meters apart.
In no time the cafe that shared it on its Facebook page, customers were looking quite relaxed while enjoying their coffee, pastries and wine with pool hats with noodles attached in different directions.
Since the idea was posted online, it has been praised by many, but a few people aren’t so sure.
Katy Lee, the journalist who tweeted the photo of the cafe, wrote, “Oh my gosh, this is great,” adding, “There’s no shame in it.”
One person replied, “No shame? Hahaha … they wear pool noodles … on their heads … taped to a hat haha.”
Another wrote: “I think the hats are the answer to social distance in public transport.”
And a third said, “I need one in Asda!”
“To welcome this for several reasons: great PR, makes sense for POV disease, embarrasses people who insist on sitting in cafes,” said a fourth.
Only a few people have expressed concerns about the cleanliness of the hats.
With one person asking, “Will the hats be disinfected after wearing?”
“So everyone is going to use the same hats that everyone has touched and adjusted all the time … it’s more like a publicity stunt than something that’s actually a good idea,” added another.
