One of Colorado’s top prep football players is heading to the Lone Star State.
Gunnar Helm, an incoming senior at Cherry Creek High School, announced Monday his commitment to the Texas Longhorns. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end received numerous offers from major football programs, including Alabama, Auburn, Colorado and Colorado State, according to 247sports.com.
Helm, rated a three-star recruit by 247sports, had 25 catches for 370 yards and eight touchdowns last season, helping the Bruins win the Class 5A state title. He was also the team’s punter.
