PASADENA – Going back Demetric Felton led UCLA on Saturday’s 27-10 victory over Arizona in Pac-12 South games.

Felton rushed to a career-high 206 yards, breaking his previous record of 167 against Oregon last week. He would leave the game after a slight limp for a first down late in the fourth quarter. The status of his injury is unknown. He had 32 carries and was two shy to match his career-high of 34 from last week.

Walking back Brittain Brown said Felton looked fine after the game and was eliminated as a precaution.

UCLA ran for at least 200 yards for the third straight game, including 281 against Arizona and ran for at least 200 yards in eight of its last 12 games dating back to last season.

With the win, UCLA (2-2) has won seven of their last nine games against Arizona (0-3), including the last five against the Wildcats in the Rose Bowl.

The Bruins did not let their turnover fight transition to the Rose Bowl and won their second home game in a row. Sales have proven expensive for the Bruins, especially in the few losses against Colorado and Oregon down the road.

Redshirt quarterback Chase Griffin managed to save the Bruins’ attack on his second start, while Dorian Thompson-Robinson was sidelined for contacting the coronavirus.

Coach Chip Kelly was pleased with his quarterback’s effort and how the attack protected the ball.

The Bruins took the lead in the second quarter when Griffin threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Brown.

Brown also scored on a 2-yard run late in the fourth quarter to seal the deal. He scored a hasty touchdown in each of the last three games.

“It’s a lot of fun to be a 1-2 punch (with Felton),” said Brown, who carries 72 yards on 16. ‘He has shown what he can do and I have shown what I can do. Our attack line is also doing a great job of creating big gaps for us. ”

When Arizona turned the ball over after downs in the second quarter, Felton would add to the lead on a six-game drive interrupted by his one-yard touchdown run for a 17-7 lead and the Bruins would be at the half with 20- 10 lead.

The Wildcats suffered their 10th straight defeat under coach Kevin Sumlin, when starting quarterback Grant Gunnell went down with an injury on the first game of scrimmage.

Will Plummer entered the game as Gunnell’s successor but failed to get the Wildcats onto the scoreboard.

But he got help from Michael Wiley, who scored on a 3-yard touchdown run that gave the Wildcats their lone lead, 7-0, after the Bruins failed to put a fourth deficit on their own 22 . Arizona was kept in a field. goal in the third quarter.

The Bruins outperformed each of their opponents in the fourth quarter of this season, giving up just three points in the final period of the season opener against Colorado.

The defense has come to life this season through his ability to get behind the offensive lines and put pressure on the quarterback.

The Bruins went into the game with an average of nine tackles for loss per game, but took on only five against Arizona.

Defensive defender Obi Eboh had lost two of the five tackles and also bagged.

“You have to appreciate the game plan that (defensive coordinator Jerry) Azzinaro and (assistant head coach Brian) Norwood have drawn up for us,” Eboh said.

What the Bruins lacked in tackles for a loss, they made up for with two interceptions in the second half.

Junior defender Stephan Blaylock made his first interception of his career, while junior defender Elijah Gates intercepted his second career. Gates also had an interception against the Wildcats in 2018.
