The man was forced to hoist his pooch into the air after the pair strayed too close to an overprotective female cat and her litter of five kittens.
CCTV footage shows the poor man lifting his dog in the air as a cat claws its way over his top half.
In the clip, filmed in the neighbourhood of Bagcilar, in the north-western Turkish city of Istanbul, the dog walker is ambling along when the feline darts straight at him.
Realising the cat is intent on attacking his dog, the man lifts his pet pooch into the air by its lead while the feline jumps all over him trying to reach the hound.
The cat, which claws his legs, is eventually removed from the scene by bystanders who rush to aid the besieged dog walker, who almost loses his trousers in the struggle.
According to the Turkish newspaper Sozcu, the unnamed man was walking his dog past a café when he noticed the cat suddenly running towards them.
Two staff members at the café where the clip was filmed defended the cat, saying she is well known in the area and nick-named Azrael after the cat from the Smurf stories owned by the evil villain Gargamel.
Azrael the fictional cat often attempts to help him catch Smurfs so he can turn them into gold.
The café workers also said that the female cat had five kittens and that she was very protective, known for attacking other dogs that came near her young.
Photos show the tabby and white cat curled up with her kittens, looking in a much better mood away from the dog she took a violent disliking to.
