STERLING – US President Donald Trump went on his first golf outing on Saturday since the White House announced a national emergency over the corona virus in March, deliberately visiting his club in the suburbs of Washington.
On a sunny spring day, Trump’s column took him from the White House to the Trump National Golf Club and he was seen wearing a white cap and white polo shirt.
It was his first time on a golf course since March 8 when he visited his club in West Palm Beach, Fla.
That was the same weekend when he met Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro at his retreat in Mar-a-Lago, whose press secretary later tested positive for the virus. Some White House employees who had been in contact with the press officer then quarantined, but none tested positive.
On March 13, Trump gave a proclamationdeclaring the pandemic a “national emergency”.
The United States diagnosed the first cases of the coronavirus in Washington State on January 20.
Trump is eager to promote the idea of the United States returning to normal, although the death toll from the coronavirus outbreak continues to rise and is expected to exceed 100,000 in the coming days.
