Dr Hilary reveals chances of children transmitting coronavirus

Dr. Hilary has revealed that children “are less likely to transmit coronavirus than others.”

In today’s Good Morning Britain episode, the healthcare specialist said there is strong evidence that children are “more resistant to the virus.”

It’s because schools in the UK will reopen on June 1 as part of a government plan to further reduce lock restrictions.

However, this has worried many teachers and parents about the safety of children when they return next month.

While discussing the matter during the show, hosts Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh asked Dr. Hilary about the chance that children will transmit the disease

Dr. Hilary replied that the chances of children transmitting the virus are “less” than adults.

The healthcare provider said, “What we do know is that children transmit the virus less than others.

“The evidence is pretty strong around the world that not only are children more resilient to the virus, but they are less likely to pass it on to others than adults.”

He continued: So if you work with children, the risk is lower, but I understand the concerns of teachers.

“If the classrooms are large and if children are not socially distant – all of which can be mitigated – then there is a potential risk and it needs to be worked out.”
