Infamous drug lord El Chapo claims to have fathered 23 children as he admitted women were his only addiction.
The kingpin made the extraordinary revelations in a video interview conducted in jail with criminologist Mónica Ramírez Cano.
El Chapo, real name Joaquin Guzman, is the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel and has been married four times.
The 63-year-old is serving a life sentence in US federal prison ADX Florence.
After he was arrested he was interviewed by fellow Mexican Ramírez Cano, who said she asked El Chapo: “What are your addictions?”
The jailed drug lord replied: “None, my only addictions are the women.”
El Chapo first married in 1977 to Alejandrina María Salazar Hernández, who he had four children with. He then married bank clerk Estela Peña, but the couple did not have any children together.
The criminal married again in the mid-1980s when he tied the knot with Griselda López Pérez, the mother of four of his children.
His fourth and current marriage came in 2007 when he wed former beauty queen Emma Coronel, 31, who is 32 years his junior and married him when she was a teenager.
In 2011 she gave birth to the couple’s twin daughters, Maria Joaquina and Emali Guadalupe.
The total number of children he has fathered has long been disputed.
Talking about her meetings with El Chapo, Ramírez Cano said: “He is a respectful person, takes great care of manners, cordial, kind, very reserved, but when you establish trust you can talk with him in an extraordinary way, which allows you to know how his mind operates.
“He is not a psychopath. He has psychopathic traits and narcissistic traits that are reflected in a need for admiration, to feel unique and special.
“What he has is a very important strategic capacity. He knows who to put in the right place, who to remove and how to move his pieces, like in a chess game.”
She uploaded the previously unseen clip to Twitter. The chat happened before Mexico extradited El Chapo to the US following his 2016 arrest.
He was charged with money laundering, drug trafficking, kidnapping and murder, and convicted on all counts.
It is thought the drug lord made a staggering $12.6 billion (£9.6bn) as the Sinaloa Cartel’s chief.
