Firefighters, police and paramedics respond to a “big” explosion at a port.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service said they had been called for reports of the explosion in Avonmouth, near Bristol, and were accompanied on the scene by Avon and Somerset police officers and medics from the South West Ambulance Service.
The service tweeted: “We are currently responding to an incident after being called up for a major explosion in Avonmouth. Crews from @AFRSAvonmouth @AFRSSouthmead @AFRSYate @AFRSPatchway @AFRSKingswood & @AFRSTemple are in attendance.
“We will be joined on site by @ASPolice & @ swasFT colleagues. The incident is ongoing.”
South Western Ambulance Service said it is “responding to a serious incident at King’s Weston Lane, Avonmouth, Bristol.”
The service added: “We have been present by multiple means in addition to fire and police personnel.
“For more information, contact the police quoting log 299.”
Avon Fire & Rescue Service said in a statement: “We were called up at 11:22 am for a major explosion at a warehouse in Avonmouth.
Crews from Avonmouth, Southmead, Yate, Patchway, Kingswood and Temple are currently in attendance.
“On the spot we will be joined by the Avon and Somerset police and ambulance.”
