A three-year-old girl was hospitalised after being injured in a drive-by shooting at an arcade.
The youngster suffered a gunshot wound and needed surgery after someone opened fire from outside a laser tag centre in Lansing, Michigan in the US.
She had been with her family at a birthday party when the horror unfolded on Tuesday evening.
Most people ran into the toilets or dived for cover at the Zap Zone Laser Tag Fun Centre after the shooting started at 8pm, MirrorOnline reports.
The little girl, who has not been named, is thought to have been the only person who was injured at the centre in Delta Township, Eaton County.
Brittany Flowers, a reporter for WLNS, claimed the girl’s grandmother told her kids were playing in the arcade when the firing broke out.
In a Facebook live video, the reporter said: “All of a sudden they heard gunshots and they didn’t know where they were coming from.
“She’s not sure where the person was standing, but the people inside heard gunshots, many of them got down on the ground to take cover.
“Many of them ran into the bathroom.”
The grandmother picked the girl up and fled to the toilets after the youngster’s mum saw she was bleeding.
Brittany added: “The grandma said she lifted up her shirt and saw that the child did have a gunshot wound.”
Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich said shots came from outside the building while the victim was inside.
He went on: “We’re investigating a shooting that occurred at the Zap Zone here in Delta Township.
“We have a three-year-old that’s currently in the hospital and undergoing surgery.”
He added: “We’re following up on some leads and hopefully those leads will follow us on a suspect or the persons responsible for this shooting.”
An ambulance arrived at the scene within minutes, according to reports.
There was a heavy police presence at the centre on Tuesday, which was partially cordoned off with police tape.
The girl’s current condition is unclear, and no arrests appear to have been made.
