Girl, 6, tells mum her eye is 'burning' – before giant bug crawls from tear duct

A six-year-old girl told her mother she couldn’t see well – before a giant beetle crawled out of her eye.

Little SibiKaia Monk was taken to hospital after claiming that the beetle had climbed her tear canal the previous afternoon.

She was rushed to the emergency room in Missouri, USA after telling tears to Mother Kris that her eye was “burning” at 1:30 AM.

The bug fell out when the family was in the hospital waiting room – and SibiKaia called it Todd after asking him to see it.

Kris said, “By the time we got to the hospital, she was calm and we talked to the nurse.

Then SibiKaia closed her eye and when she opened her eye it just slipped out.

“My response, the nurses’ response and the doctor’s initial response was just this full-body vibration.”

However, the youngster took the gruesome discovery and couldn’t wait to see what was hiding behind her eye, even calling it Todd right away.

Kris said, “She asked if she could see it, so I lowered it to her and she just said ‘Hello, Todd’, just cool and calm and then she walked away.

“I’m trying not to have a panic attack here because an insect just came out of my daughter’s face and she’s like ‘oh look, an insect. Let’s eat ice cream. “

SibiKaia had to take antibiotics five days after the shocking incident, but she has not sustained damage to her cornea and is still intrigued by Todd – she even asks her mom if she can pet him.

Kris and Joseph live with six of their seven children during the closing, and the bug struck SibiKaia while the family was preparing a bonfire to celebrate their eldest son’s 21st birthday.

Kris added, “This was probably one of the most interesting things I’ve experienced with my kids, and she’s fine, so it’s more interesting to us now.

“She has had a great story.”
