A mum died in a backyard swimming pool trying to save her drowning daughter – before her dad died trying to rescue them both.
Little Sacchi Patel, 8, drowned with mum Nisha, 33, and grandad Bharat, 62, at home in New Jersey, US, on Monday.
Neighbours claimed the trio had been electrocuted – but a local coroner said all three drowned.
Cops believe Sacchi got into trouble in the deep end before calling for help as she slipped below the waterline.
Nisha and Bharat then died trying to rescue her – as neither could swim.
One eyewitness told CBS “an electrician’s truck showed up after” – but cops said electrocution “was not a factor”.
The family are believed to have snapped up the five bedroom home within the last month for £300k.
Worried neighbours called cops after hearing Sacchi’s anguished aunt screaming in horror.
Relatives were last night pictured being consoled outside the house.
Neighbour Vishal Makin said: “We are from the same part of India, we spoke the same language also.
“We were so excited for them getting their pool, it’s the right weather you should get it done and it’s such a bad sad day.”
Brunswick Police Chief Frank Losacco said: “This is a devastating day for our entire community.”
This comes as back in December a girl, her 16-year-old brother and their 52-year-old father all drowned in a Costa del Sol pool.
The girls’ parents are understood to have found the nine-year-old in difficulties under the water after rushing to the pool when the older girl returned to their holiday apartment alone and they quizzed her on her sister’s whereabouts.
The dad and his son jumped in the water in a failed bid to save her which ended with them also drowning.
