A girl was left traumatized after an insect jumped at her and settled in her ear for two days.
Tha Rungkasatra, 12, was in bed in her room in Thailand when she saw the black beetle enter her room on November 10.
Tha panicked when it suddenly jumped on her, landed on her head and crawled into her ear, Yahoo News Australia reports.
She screamed as she frantically tried to get the insect out of her ear canal, then her 30-year-old mother rushed to her rescue.
She joined in with her desperate daughter’s efforts to remove the beetle, but then the blood shot out and the girl was taken to the hospital.
Her mother Jinda recalled the horrific experience, saying, “The bug flew into her ear. My daughter winced and her eyes bulged. We tried to remove it until the blood spurted from her ear.”
Once Tha was in the hospital, she was visited by doctors and told that the insect had already left.
Tha was fired, but the irritation continued while she was in bed all night, so her mother took her back to the hospital the next day.
This time, specialists in the hospital’s ENT and ENT department conducted an in-depth examination, which revealed that the beetle was still in the child’s ear.
Doctors poured some medicine into the ear to force the creature out. She was hospitalized overnight and woke up the next morning with a pillow full of blood.
The insect had partially emerged from the canal before being completely removed by the doctors.
She was able to go home, but from then on she “cringes when she sees a fly”.
