A female prison officer and bodybuilder in Australia who admitted having sex with one of her inmates vowed softly after being told she wouldn’t be convicted until 2021.
Melissa Goodwin, 25, admitted to having intercourse with Sydney’s Silverwater Jail inmate Corey London as part of a plea deal.
In exchange for admitting one count of entering into a relationship with London, a charge of wrongdoing in public office was dropped.
According to the Sydney Daily Telegraph, Goodwin could be heard muttering “what the f ***” after the judge found her conviction for next summer.
She has since been banned from Silverwater prison by the Metropolitan Remand and Reception Center.
The deal comes weeks after Goodwin was charged with smuggling contraband, according to court documents.
Goodwin reportedly smuggled a packet of White Ox loose tobacco, two lighters and chewing gum to the prisoner she had sex with.
Charges related to the contraband were handed to Goodwin last month at a hearing she reportedly skipped to train.
At the time, the chairman said, “That is not appropriate. It must be done in the public courtroom. It must be done in the usual way.”
Goodwin was arrested in May after evidence of her relationship with the inmate came to light.
According to news.com.au, Goodwin was in an illicit relationship with London for about seven months before she was caught.
At the time, she was also being investigated for her relationship with a newly released ex-con named Caleb Valeri.
Goodwin is not being charged in connection with her relationship with Valeri, and none of the charges against Goodwin suggest the relationship was inappropriate.
