‘Holy cr**!’ Great white shark breaches next to fishing boat in stunning footage

A video of a great white shark breaching the water next to a group of fishermen has amazed viewers after being shared on social media.

The nail-biting footage – recorded off the coast of Sarasota, Florida – shows a large shark surface next to the boat, leaving a giant splash in its wake.

Its telltale tooth-shaped fin pokes menacingly through the water as the apex predator makes a pass of the fishing vessel, while the men onboard express their shock.

“Holy c***!” shouts one.

“What the hell was that?” asks another in confusion.

The great white shark then vanishes from view, with the water calm where it had been thrashing just moments before.

Luckily, the exhilarating scene was caught on video by one of the fishermen.

SRQ Fishing Tackle uploaded the stunning clip on Facebook on Monday, where it has since been watched more than 5,000 times.

In the caption, they wrote: “First time for us yesterday as we had a curious Great White Shark visit us approximately 40 miles west of Sarasota.”

Shark fanatics were seriously impressed by the close encounter, with many envious-sounding viewers leaving comments below the video.

“That’s cool!” said one appreciatively.

A second wrote: “Man that’s cool as s***.”

“Don’t see those up here in Canada too much!” quipped a third viewer.

Great white sharks are quite common in Florida, particularly in winter, despite earlier misconceptions that they didn’t frequent the area.

Non-profit marine organisation OCEARCH has been tagging great white sharks and tracking them for many years.

It has named many of the white sharks that have been tagged, and an 11ft named Nova and 9ft called Brunswick have been recorded in Florida’s waters.

This comes after a massive great white shark was caught on video eyeballing divers as it swam past their diving cages.

And another great white shark bared its hundreds of teeth as it snapped its jaws just inches away from fishermen after breaching next to their boat.
