Meghan Markle’s five best friends could be called into court to defend her as the Duchess continues her privacy battle with a newspaper.
Embroiled in a legal battle against Associated Newspapers Limited, owners of the Mail on Sunday, the Duchess lost the first High Court battle in May.
Now her closest confidants could be called in as they were “rightly concerned for her welfare when pregnant”.
This comes after new claims surfaced which revealed Meghan Markle felt “unprotected” by the royal family during her pregnancy.
More claims are set to emerge about the behind-the-scenes impact of Megxit in the coming months as Meghan’s court claim gets underway.
The 38-year-old has claimed she was unable to defend herself and her friends were “silenced,” reports News.com.au.
The letter at the centre of the Meghan Markle’s legal battle with a newspaper detailed her intimate “thoughts and feelings” about her father’s health and their relationship.
Her closest pals could be asked under oath whether Meghan knew about her friends giving interviews and mentioning the letter to the media.
The friends have been described by People magazine as “a long-time friend, a former co-star, a friend from LA, a one-time colleague and a close confidante”.
So, who are these friends?
The long-time friend
Lindsay Jill Roth, Meghan’s university friend is thought to be one of the five in the inner circle.
In March 2017, Lindsay told People magazine: “We’re the kind of friends who can be 3000 miles away and still be talking about or thinking the same thing, and even texting each other the same thing at the same time miles away.”
The former co-star
Meghan’s former Suits costar, Abigail Spencer is rumoured to be one of her closest pals.
Speaking about the Duchess, she previously said: “When you see her at walkabouts, when she crouches down to talk to the kids and genuinely has real conversations with people, that’s Meg.”
The LA pal
Another pal who attended the Royal Wedding is pilates instructor Heather Dorak.
Heather and Meghan have known each other since the Duchess’ time on Suits, when she began taking her classes.
Sarah Rafferty who played the role of Donna Paulson in the famous show, Suits is also thought to be one of the five who could be called into court.
An anonymous source revealed when talking about Meghan she said: “We talk daily. And the first thing out of her mouth is, ‘How are the kids? How are you?’ I’m not even allowed to ask about her until she finds out about me.”
The close confidante
One of Meghan’s closest gal pals, Jessica Mulroney who has been caught in a race-row recently could also be called to the high-court battle.
The pair became friends a decade ago however they have reportedly fallen out after Mulroney was embroiled in a row with black social media star Sasha Exeter.
