The Prime Minister is holding a press conference this afternoon when he’ll be joined by Chancellor Rishi Sunak and chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance,
After addressing the nation from Downing Street, Boris Johnson will be answering questions on the local lockdowns and other Covid-related issues.
Mr Sunak this morning announced a new package of financial measures to support businesses and workers hit by the coronavirus crisis.
And it comes as more areas are poised to enter Tier Two and Tier Three restrictions.
Health secretary Matt Hancock has announced that three more parts of Egland are to be escalated from Tier One to Tier Two restrictions.
Speaking in the House of Commons Mr Hancock said the new measures will come into force at 0.01am on Saturday.
Stoke-on-Trent, Coventry and Slough will move into the Tier 2 “high” coronavirus level at one minute past midnight on Saturday, Matt Hancock told MPs.
Mr Johnson could announce more restrictions in further parts of England.
The press conference is due to start at 4pm.
