A cyclist was filmed charging towards a teenager and pushing him to the ground when he and his friends were putting up posters about justice for George Floyd.
Video shared on Reddit by the young man captures the moment of incident at Capital Crescent Trail in Bethesda, Maryland, US.
The adult man, who is wearing in a helmet and sunglasses, is seen with a handful of posters and tapes when he retrieves his bike.
He pushes his bike towards the teenager and appears to pursue him down the path while the teen yelled: “What? Hey! What the f***?”
The camera is dropped to the ground but it records an audio of the man saying: “Give me the tape.”
The teenager, who does not wish to be named, told NBC News he had been taping posters to poles along the trail with two friends when the cyclist came up behind them.
He said: “[He] ripped the posters and tape out of our hands before eventually throwing his bike into me and trying to hold me to the ground with it.”
The youths were putting up posters with information that allowed people to donate to the Colour of Change petition.
The video on Reddit has been upvoted 95% with more than 670 comments.
The incident has alerted police from the Park Police Montgomery County Division who issued a statement on Twitter.
It read: “We are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the below individual in reference to an assault that took place this morning [June 2] on the Capital Crescent trail.”
The victim told NBC: “I’ve been putting up signs in my neighbourhood and neighbourhoods around mine to bring attention to the fact that a lot of these neighbourhoods are in a position of huge privilege.
“[They] can make a big difference in terms of both monetary donations and resources to fight against injustice.”
