A man was killed in a horrific collision in which three separate vehicles hit him while crossing a road.
Jose Fuentes, 50, crossed a street just after 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, in Florence’s South Los Angeles neighborhood.
He was hit by a motorcyclist who did not stop on the spot, but went on for a while before stopping for a moment and then driving away.
While Mr. Fuentes was still on the tarmac, he was hit by a second vehicle – a white car that didn’t stop either. A third vehicle also hit the dead man while lying there, but the LAPD has not released its description.
During a press conference, LAPD Detective Ryan Moreno said, “No one stopped and helped Mr. Fuentes while he was lying there.”
The man on the bike might take to the streets a bit [he could have] stopped to block traffic and even avoid the second or third collision.
“But he chose to get on his motorcycle and took off and fled the scene.”
A shocking video from the LAPD showing the tragic accident reveals that Mr. Fuentes received a fleeting blow from the motorcycle, but was completely run over by the white sedan.
Police are now looking for all three suspects, but declined to specify the description of the third vehicle, simply saying that they were looking for a dark-colored sports bike driven by a man and the driver of a white-colored sedan.
The LAPD has published a statement on their website specifying that there is a legal reward for the detention of hit-and-run drivers: “On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and issued a Hit and Run reward program created. Trust fund.
“A reward of up to $ 50,000 (£ 37,500) is available to community members who provide information leading to identification, arrest and conviction or resolution of the offender through civil compromise.”
Anyone with information about Mr. Fuentes’ tragic death is asked to contact the LAPD’s South Traffic Division.
