Man 'proudly keeps wife in horror torture chamber and pulls out her fingernails'

A monstrous husband has been accused of keeping his wife in a torture chamber and subjecting her to horrific abuse just a month after she gave birth.

The Turkish man was arrested after pulling out his wife’s fingernails with pliers in the purpose-built room.

Ilyas Arik, 28, reportedly beat his wife furiously just 15 days before placing her in a torture chamber.

Syria-born Mirvet Nivej, 28, ran away from Arik, which enraged him – he then threatened that if she didn’t return, he would never show her she would see their 40-day-old baby, it is claimed.

When she returned, he reportedly tied her to the roof of their home in the southeastern Turkish city of Urfa and began to torture her.

The suspect even shared photos of the alleged abuse with people online as if he were proud of what he did.

He has since been arrested and charges have been prepared by prosecutors demanding imprisonment for up to 34 years.

According to the news source DHA, Mirvet Nivej was subject to violence for days after being tied to a chair, beaten with sticks and her fingernails pulled out with pliers.

One of the people he shared photos with was a colleague at work and the victim’s supervisor, where he wrote, “Look how badly I hit this woman.”

It’s unclear why he shared the photos, but the supervisor forwarded the image to the police and filed a complaint.

When the torturer realized that the police were on their way, he threw the victim on the street and fled on October 7.

However, he was later picked up and arrested and is currently being held.

The charges against Ilyas Arik were reportedly accepted by the Criminal Court of First Instance.

The indictment said that chains, screwdrivers, pliers, keys, and sticks were used as weapons during the alleged torture.

Meanwhile, the victim remains in the hospital while her baby is cared for by social services.

The investigation continues.
