A man who wants to move to Australia with his family is offering the chance to win his four-bedroom detached house and SUV for a quid.
Dale Tate is offering 400,000 tickets in the raffle for his detached house in Ossett, in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, along with his Volvo XC90 Hybrid, YorkshireLive reports.
Tickets are on sale until 8pm on Thursday, September 17 after the dad opted for the unusual method after finding it difficult to sell his property during the coronavirus pandemic.
He is moving to Australia with his wife and four children and has stopped advertising with estate agents and set up the raffle that people can enter for just £1. Entrants can buy as many tickets as they want.
Dale said: “People haven’t got anything to lose really, it’s only £1. Your odds of winning the lottery are about 45 million to one, but this is 400,000 to one if you spend £1.
“If all the tickets sell, then somebody has to win it. It will make somebody’s day that’s for sure.”
The winner will be handed the keys to the unfurnished four-bedroom home, which comes with a front and back garden, driveway and garage. They will also be given a second-hand Volvo XC90 Hybrid, which has more than 60,000 miles on the clock and comes with one year’s car insurance.
Dale added: “We will get the asking price for it, once the fees are taken out, including stamp duty and legal fees. It’s not like we’re over-inflating the price and trying to make a huge profit on it. We’re not doing that at all.”
