Man robbed of entire £150k life savings seconds after withdrawing them from bank

This is the devastating moment a man was robbed of his entire life savings just seconds after he withdrew them from his bank.

Francisco Cornejo was attacked outside a Chase Bank in Huntington Park, California, US, with dramatic footage capturing a masked thief running off with his $200,000 (£152,000).

The video shows Francisco desperately trying to reach out and grab the thief as he falls to the ground. He can then be heard begging for help as the man runs off with his money.

The money came from a recent sale of his house and was everything he had in his bank account.

“He was parked as close as possible to the bank, knowing he was going to withdraw a large amount of cash,” Francisco’s lawyer, Nathan Soleimani explained.

“Before he was able to get to his car, he was grabbed and beaten.

“And when he was being beaten he was doing his best to try and retain the bag that he brought with him.”

The lawyer said investigators are now looking into CCTV footage from the bank to try and hunt the suspect. The FBI is also involved and a representative from Chase Bank said they were working with law enforcement.

But it could have been even worse for Francisco, with the violent attack leaving him battered and bruised.

“Thank God he’s alive,” Mr Soleimani continued.

“His family is grateful he got out of it with just the injuries that he has.

“At the end of the day, they’re thankful for him being here.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Huntington Park police.

It comes after footage taken in the UK emerged of a car thief dragging a woman 60ft down a road as she desperately clung to the open door.
