A man allegedly raped and tortured his ex-girlfriend for eight days before throwing her out of a fourth-floor window.
Colombian Jose Maria Ortega Nino is said to have spent eight hours a day assaulting and telling 24-year-old Maria Alejandra Rojas that he would kill her in his apartment.
He is accused of running his terrifying campaign after she broke up with him in the Cedritos area of Bogota, Colombia, on August 23.
Maria is currently recovering in intensive care after a fracture to her legs, hips, pelvis and a serious fracture that trapped all her teeth.
Ortega reportedly locked her up in a bathroom for the first time, hit her with a pair of shoes, and left her under a cold, gushing shower for eight hours, according to reports.
Over the next eight days, he allegedly assaulted her verbally, psychologically, sexually, and physically eight hours a day.
Every day, Ortega told her he was going to kill her until he left a window open with a view of the street on August 31.
Maria stuck out her head and started screaming for help. However, when Ortega realized, he reportedly threw her out.
The young woman was rescued by the fire brigade and taken to hospital.
In a post on social media, Maria wrote: “I currently only eat liquid foods and I cannot continue to support my family.
“Since August 31, I’ve been in intensive care for 13 days, fighting for my life. The doctors said it was a miracle.
“So far I’ve had five surgeries and more on my face.”
She revealed that Ortega was not immediately arrested.
Maria wrote, “ Although a complaint has been lodged, the authorities have not been able to ‘arrest’ him for a ‘strange ($)’ reason, even though he moved after hurting me, helped by family members and friends, and he has been seen on the street and at public events as if nothing had happened. “
She also revealed that she was afraid for her life again, adding: ‘I fear for the safety of me and my family as he threatened to harm my son and my mother so I want to make it clear that anything we can happened to Jose. Maria Ortega’s fault Nino. “
Ortega’s arrest was finally ordered on September 15, and his charge in 12 investigative proceedings was reported by local media on November 17.
The Public Prosecution Service will charge the suspect with kidnapping, torture and rape. He is also being charged in similar physical and psychological assault proceedings against several former partners.
Maria remains in the hospital, where she is still recovering from the injuries sustained in the fall.
