Military fighter jet crashes into homes with 'unknown casualties'

A military aircraft has crashed into a residential area in a district of Riau, Indonesia.

Early reports say it could be a Hawk 209 fighter aircraft, with the pilot said to have survived the crash.

Footage from the scene, in the Siak Hulu District of the Kampar area of Riau, show emergency vehicles rushing to the area.

There has been no official statement from the Indonesian Air Force as yet, but an commander said: “There will be a press release later.”

Pictures show a damaged plane near a wrecked house. However the back of the jet looks to be intact.
