As Christmas approaches, many of us might be trying to find as much money as possible to buy all our friends, family and colleagues the gift they want.
The festive season can be a real expensive one for Brummies and Brits and it can be even harder if you have lost your job or suffered financially after the pandemic.
And many of us wish we saved a little bit more so the sting of Christmas wasn’t as sore and our credit card bills weren’t as large.
So, one savvy money saving mum decided to do something about it and went about trying to save money throughout the year.
She posted her success in the Facebook group Saving for christmas, 1p challenges and other methods.
She managed to save more than a whopping £1,000 by using a number of methods and you can start it right now or you can start it in 2020.
She revealed that she saved £50-a-month starting from January as well as the Penny Challenge which involves starting saving one penny and gradually increasing the amount by 1p each day.
Then she also saved £5-a-week which went towards her holiday. The results were astounding and now she has a good amount of cash which she says is going towards her back garden.
She added: “I managed to finish the penny challenge in June, thanks to non-stop working as a key worker in lockdown and not really doing anything else with my money.
“I was heading to the bank, taking out notes and ticking numbers off. I saved over £1,000 and used it to get my back garden done.”
The money saving mum shared a picture of the money she saved and a number of people were very impressed. One person said: “Thats awesome – well done” while another wrote: “Amazing, well done”.
