Monkeys share passionate kiss on veranda – before being rudely interrupted

A hilarious video captures an intimate moment between two monkeys who are enjoying a passionate kiss on a veranda.

But the lovestruck apes turn shy when they are rudely interrupted by the cameraperson, who tries to zoom in for a closer look.

In the footage, which has gone viral, a pair of two sandy-coloured monkeys sit down face-to-face while holding each other tightly and “kissing” with their mouths.

Midway through their sloppy French kiss, one monkey notices the cameraman’s presence as he tries to zoom in, and the ape hastily breaks off from its disappointed partner.

Looking angry, the monkey bares its teeth and seems to think about attacking the doctor, but then turns around and enjoys a play-fight with its lover instead.

The incident was filmed by national park visitor Doctor Fu while he was collecting medicinal herbs outside the city of Pu’er in the south-western Chinese province of Yunnan.

His video of the two Rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) locking lips has been seen 5 million times on China’s Twitter-like social media service Weibo.

The seemingly red-faced monkeys scampered away after realising they were being watched by the medic.

The monkey looked angry about being disturbed in the private moment

Doctor Fu told Nanjing-based Jiangsu Television: “I saw two monkeys kissing while foraging for medical herbs in Yunnan.

“I came across them by chance. I was very surprised so I filmed it.”

This comes after a naughty monkey was caught on video carrying out a raid on a shop – making off with a loaf of bread and scampering up a tree.

Meanwhile, lab monkeys have “gone on strike” after being paid unequally in a scientific experiment.

The researcher argued that monkeys feel “injustice” in a similar way to humans.
