MP left red-faced as he appears to watch porn on his phone in parliament

An MP was left red-faced after he appeared to be caught watching porn on his phone in parliament when he was supposed to be paying attention to a budget reading.

Thai MP Ronnathep Anuwat, was spotted looking at the images as he sat in parliament in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday September 17.

A reporter sitting in the press gallery noticed Mr Anuwat not paying attention and snapped a photo of the Chonburi province MP.

On closer inspection, the reporter realised the pictures showed a young woman with her top off, with another showing a lady lying naked on a bed.

Mr Anuwat was also caught looking at a woman’s genitals and was left flustered when he was was confronted about the pictures.

He claimed a woman had sent him unsolicited picture messages on the app from a girl who was “asking for help” and “wanted money”.

The MP told local media that he viewed the images in detail as he was checking the background to decide if the girl was in danger.

Mr Anuwat told reporters he wanted to observe the environment surrounding the girl in the picture and take action if necessary.

He feared the young woman was “being harassed by gangsters who had forced her to take the pictures”.

Eventually, Mr Anuwat claims he realised the girl was “asking for money” and so he deleted all the content from his phone.

Government officials summoned Ronnathep for an explanation and ruled no further action would be taken against him.

House Speaker Chuan Leekpai said the images were a “personal matter” and said there were currently no rules about what MPs could look at on their phones.

Chuan added that no MPs had complained about the matter so no action would be taken and warned the public to separate personal matters from MP duties.
