A mother is said to have left her nine-year-old son on an ice rink for four hours smoking crack cocaine and then passed out.
Jennifer Moore Frenchmeyer was arrested on Friday just before midnight by police in Houston, Texas.
Police said in a statement that the owner of Skate Champions found her son outside unsupervised when he went to jail.
The 39-year-old had reportedly left the child wandering alone as she drifted through a drug-induced haze.
Frenchmeyer is said to have revealed to officers that she smoked the Class A fabric while caring for her son and was charged with leaving a child with intent to return.
The suspect was also found to be in possession of cannabis, police said.
She had been waiting outside in her car while the child participated in an evening skating session, but passed out, reports I LOVE.
Police arrived at the scene at 11:51 PM and found the suspect unconscious in the driver’s seat of her car.
After reviewing CCTV footage, police concluded that the boy was alone on the rink for at least four hours.
The child protection services were then informed and the child placed in the care of family members.
Mark Herman, the Harris County Constable for Precinct 4, said the suspect obscured her words and had “ bloodshot eyes ” when confronted by officers.
Frenchmeyer was arrested and held in Harris County Jail.
She was held on $ 1,500 (£ 1,122) bail by the 208th district court.
The officer also tweeted the image of Frenchmeyer’s mugshot with the caption, “Constables arrest mother for leaving children behind.”
