Mum explains why she decided to cook her family Christmas dinner in November

A mum went viral after announcing her decision to cook an early Christmas dinner for her family.

She said she had followed online tips about how to prepare the festive feast without spending hours in the kitchen.

And – explaining why she decided to have turkey with all the trimmings before Christmas Day, she said simply: “Why not?”

Karen Rhodes went viral on social media with her announcement, the Birmingham Mail reports.

She told members of the Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas group how she sprang into action after it emerged England was heading into a new lockdown from Thursday.

Karen said: “I’ve seen a lot of posts about Christmas dinner and not wanting to spend all day in the kitchen and there have been lots of useful tips.”

“We decided to have ‘Christmas dinner’ today because, why not?

“Less than 10 minutes to prepare, an hour to cook, with minimal work.”

It comes as England heads into a fresh lockdown from Thursday, lasting until at least December 2.

The Prime Minister said he guaranteed “without a shred of doubt” that the restrictions would expire on December 2, amid concerns on the Conservative benches that the lockdown could be extended.

Supermarkets across the UK, meanwhile, have urged shoppers to stock up before Christmas.

Retailers are urging customers to do their festive shopping earlier this year, amid concern over added pressures for the retail sector amid lockdown measures.
