No fans allowed at CHSAA championship football games in Pueblo County

Fans are not allowed to attend CHSAA championship football games in Pueblo County due to the widespread transmission of COVID-19.

Parents and other spectators of CHSAA-sponsored championship football games will no longer be allowed to attend the Pueblo County games from the weekend of December 4 and 5, as COVID-19 is still widely broadcast in the county, the Colorado Department said. of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE).

Experts from the Colorado School of Public Health estimate that 1 in 29 people in Pueblo and surrounding areas are contagious with the virus, so attendance is limited only to football teams, track and field personnel, cheerleaders, band members, broadcasters and other essential personnel.

“We appreciate the continued partnership with the Colorado High School Activities Association during these troubled times,” said Jill Hunsaker Ryan, CDPHE Executive Director. “Early in the season, our organizations agreed that additional safety precautions may need to be taken, and now we’re here, unfortunately. These decisions are not light, but they are necessary. “

CHSAA Commissioner Rhonda Blanford-Green said they supported the new restrictions.
