In the morning, 292 turtles were rescued and brought to the forest department office in Barasat Rathtala area. However, they could not arrest anyone accused in this incident. Because these turtles were kept in sacks in the Habra area. According to sources, the forest department raided the area and rescued the tortoises. The tortoises will be released later in a pond, according to forest department sources.
It may be mentioned that in December last year, a number of turtles were rescued from a train at Naihati station. The estimated market value of these turtles is around Rs. 4 lakhs. GRP and RPF officials boarded the train just as the Sealdagami Down Gorakhpur Eastern Express reached Naihati station. The train was searched on the basis of secret information. GRP and RPF officials are suspicious after seeing a huge amount of bags in the train. Then the tortoise came out as soon as he opened the bag. Five more trolley bags were later recovered. Naihati GRP and RPF officials then found the owner of the bag. His name is known as Vikram. On behalf of the GRP, Bikram and 6 members of his family were brought to the GRP office at Naihati station. It is learned that Bikram was interrogated at his home in Sultanpur area of Uttar Pradesh. He was accompanied by 6 women and a child. They were detained. According to GRP sources, the turtles recovered have an estimated market value of Rs 4 lakh.
