Pac-12 cancels Washington State-Stanford game

Washington State athletics director Pat Chun says the school has nine soccer players in COVID-19 protocols and four players had to be included in protocol Friday morning, leading to the cancellation of the Cougars’ match at Stanford.

Chun said as of last weekend, the Cougars had zero players in their COVID protocols and the first positive test came early in the week. The four positive Friday morning prevented the Cougars from reaching the Pac-12 mandate of 53 available stock market players.

Chun said it was too early to know if next Friday’s Apple Cup against rival Washington will be played as planned. He said sorting out the Apple Cup situation would begin on Sunday.

“We will get through tomorrow as planned and this Sunday we will start making our daily guesses about where our squad is and where we stand in everything to do with trying to place a team on Friday,” Chun said.
