Piers Morgan never shies away from telling people exactly what’s on his mind, and today’s episode of Good Morning Britain has been no different.
During the show this morning, the outspoken TV anchor told viewers what he wants the Government to say next amid the coronavirus lockdown.
The presenter was joined by three other guests, including Daily Mirror journalist Kevin Maguire, while discussing how the Government has handled the pandemic.
During the segment, viewers tuning in from home took to social media to react to the discussion, with many agreeing with what Piers was saying.
It comes as the Prime Minister has said he is “very proud” of the government’s record on the coronavirus pandemic.
Piers revealed he wanted to hear a bit of humility from Boris Johnson and Health Secretary Matt Hancock.
“I think it’s a major error of Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock,” He said.
“They continue to say – all the Government continues to say – they refuse to admit to any mistakes.
“That blind refusal, I think, is why their approval ratings are disintegrating.
“And it is why Sir Keir Starmer, of the Labour Party, is seeing his approval ratings surging.”
Piers went on to add: “I think, if they were more open, if they were more honest, and they said: ‘Look, you know what? We have got a number of things wrong here. We were dealing with an unprecedented situation. We have made mistakes’.”
“And knowing the British people, as I do, and have done for 55 years, I think would be a lot more welcome to a bit of brutal honesty than they are to continued lying.”
One viewer flocked to Twitter to praise Piers, tweeting: “Well said Piers.”
Another agreed: “@piersmorgan well said Piers, it should work both ways”
A third said: “They’ve messed it all up.”
“The whole team on @GMB have been on form during this whole lockdown and coronavirus time. #gmb Great debates and updates. @piersmorgan @susannareid100 @benshephard @CharlotteHawkns and all the background crew! #wellplayed,” someone else put.
Another chimed: “@piersmorgan @GMB Absolutely Luuuuuurve Piers GMB is not the same when he’s not on. No sugarcoating with him – says it like it is. #BestPresenterEver #GMB”
