The controversy that has been raging for the past few weeks over the incident of praying in the streets of Gurgaon took a new turn on Friday. Right-wing groups opposed to the prayers parked trucks in the area of Sector 36. Only then did the tension escalate further. Police arrested 7-8 people in this incident. The protesters started chanting slogans. One of them has been arrested. The man had been arrested earlier in Sector 12 for staging similar protests. This person was opposed to praying in a public place here. He was later honored at the Govardhan Puja Mancha by the officials of the United Hindu Sangharsh Samiti.
Putting a truck in the place where the prayers were being offered is undoubtedly a fancy method. The protesters offered sacrifices to pay homage to the martyrs of the Mumbai attacks in Sector 37. There were allegations of worshiping at the place of prayer, playing cricket, and even spreading dung.
However, on Friday, about 60 protesters from nearby villages parked their trucks in the area. The police spoke to them but they did not move easily. The United Hindu Sangharsh Samiti has warned that they will not allow such prayers in public places from next week. The administration was given one month. As a result, they have warned that prayers will not be offered in this manner after December 10.
One of the protesters said, “We have been parking cars in this place for a long time.” No one was allowed to pray in this place. Even we can’t come here, no one forbade it. As a result, the protest lasted for several hours in the morning. And then the police went and handled the situation. On the other hand, a person from the Muslim organization said that this place is official. Here we are allowed to pray. If anyone is in trouble then let them know their complaint to the administration. If the administration forbids us, we will stop praying in this place.
