Quarantine regulations for people returning to the UK can be changed during your holiday with updated travel guidance from the UK government.
Currently, there are 74 countries on a list that are considered safe by the government, meaning you can travel there and return to the UK without having to isolate for 14 days when you return.
This list includes Greece, Italy and Spain – although there are concerns that Spain may be removed from the list following a wave of coronavirus cases.
Now, the government seems to be planning to change the way it assesses safety protocols, meaning the rules can change just before you go on vacation – or even while you’re abroad.
The list of safe countries is currently revised every three weeks.
the government is expected to replace that with a continuous rating system starting Monday, which could mean countries will be removed from the safe list in the short term.
Travel experts say they are already seeing cancellations in places like Spain’s tourist hotspots.
Hotels that are normally 100 percent full are currently running at 65 percent capacity.
