Rockies blown out, swept by Dodgers at Coors Field in MLB The Show 20

Now that the start of the Major League Baseball season has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, here at The Denver Post we’ve watched how the Rockies would fare in MLB The Show 20 on PlayStation 4. We’ll have a story for each game planned until real baseball returns. Here’s a look at the preview of the Rockies virtual preseason. In Thursday’s game, the Rockies were 35-19.

The Dodgers rocked the Rockies with 14 hits en route to a 10-2 victory and a sweep of series on Thursday at Coors Field. It is the fifth consecutive loss to Colorado.

Starting pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez (1-5) lasted only 3 2/3 innings, enabling seven hits and five earned runs in the loss.

The Rockies struggled to build a foul until the sixth inning when short stop Trevor Story hit an RBI-double to drive David Dahl home to narrow the deficit to 5-1. But that was all they would score, leaving the bases loaded.

After giving up another run in the top of the seventh, Colorado added another on an RBI-single by Nolan Arenado.

Colorado drops to 35-20 on the year and is only two games ahead of the Dodgers (33-22). The Rockies will be heading to San Francisco from Friday for a series of three games. German Marquez (6-4) climbs the mound for Colorado against Jeff Samardzija (2-3).
