Russia is carrying out successful tests of a hypersonic missile that can supposedly travel at speeds of 6,000mph, state media reports.
The Zircon missile is currently being tested in the far north of the country.
The country’s Ministry of Defence said in a statement: “The tests of the Zircon hypersonic missile are also being successfully completed.
“Test launches from the Admiral of the Soviet Union Gorshkov frigate have confirmed the unique tactical and technical characteristics of this missile in terms of range and accuracy of fire, as well as its hypersonic flight speed.”
The Zircon can fly at a range of up to 600 miles, meaning it could reach its target in just seven minutes.
