A pensioner was sent flying to the ground after being robbed and punched in the face by a teenager.
The 74-year-old woman was delivering food to her friend in East Village, New York City, US, when three suspects walked past her and one of them snatched her wallet.
CCTV footage released by the New York Police Department shows a teen boy, wearing a navy hoodie and red trousers, grabbing a wallet from the victim’s back trouser pocket.
As she turns around to confront the suspect, the boy sends a blow to the woman, striking at her face and knocking her to the ground.
Her friend quickly runs to her aid and tries to catch the boy as shocked shoppers watch the group flee.
Another segment of the clip shows the trio, two boys and a girl, entering a grocery store nearby.
The elderly woman suffered cuts and bruises on her face and hand but refused medical attention.
She said she has been living in New York City since 1963 and has never experienced anything like this.
A spokesperson for the New York Police Department said the incident happened on the 14th Street near 1st Avenue on Thursday, September 3, according to Fox News.
They added: “Although the victim sustained bruising and swelling to her face and cuts and scrapes to her hands she refused medical attention.”
Police are now appealing for information and witnesses after the three suspects fled the scene.
The three suspects – two males, and one female – were described as between 14 and 18 years of age.
