A 14-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly killing his mother after she was found dead with “obvious signs of trauma.”
Tiana Keen, 45, was pronounced dead on Sunday October 25 at a property in Mariana, Arizona, United States.
Pina Country Sheriff’s Office said Tiana and her son had been visiting the house from out of town when police were called to the property.
Officers found Tiana unresponsive and with “obvious signs of trauma” as sheriff deputies and the Northwest Fire Department personnel worked to save the mum’s life.
Tiana was pronounced dead a short while later, and Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division took over the investigation.
In a statement, the Pina Country Sheriff’s Office said the investigation led to the “arrest of a 14-year-old juvenile.”
The juvenile was identified as Tiana’s son, and the Sheriff’s office confirmed the teenager had been taken into custody.
Police said he has been charged with Second Degree Murder, but it is unclear at this stage if he will be tried as an adult.
The Pina County Sheriff’s Office said: “On October 25, 2020, at approximately 3:30 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 4900 block of West Didion Dr. Upon arrival, an unresponsive adult female was found inside the residence with obvious signs of trauma.
“Lifesaving efforts by deputies and Northwest Fire Department personnel were unsuccessful and the female, identified as 45-year-old Tiana Keen, was pronounced deceased on scene.
“Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
“The investigation led to the arrest of a 14-year-old juvenile, Tiana’s son. Tiana and her son were visiting this residence from out of town when the incident occurred.
“The 14-year-old son was taken into custody and charged with Second Degree Murder.”
