A man who allegedly killed his mum after she demanded he start to repay a loan she took out for him threw a huge party in the house after burying her body in the woods.
Batuhan Unal, 21, had argued with his mother about the debt and then allegedly hit her over the head with a hammer at the family home before burying her in Bakirkoy in Istanbul, Turkey.
He was questioned when mushroom pickers discovered the body of murdered Melahat Isbir, 39, in the forest and called the police over the crime.
It is alleged he had carried the body there together with a pal, who has been identified as Furkan Salih Gurek, and after confessing to hitting her and has now appeared before the judge for the first time to be remanded in custody.
It is reported that he claimed he had been shocked at going home and finding his mother with a man, and he had hit her when they argued about it.
But, the brother of the victim, Fatih Isbir, said: “The claim that my sister had a relationship with someone is not true. My nephew was in debt.
“He forced his mother to take out a loan to get rid of his debt. There were endless fights about it.”
He said he was horrified that after the alleged murder, the boy had been so unbothered by what he had done, that he even threw a party at the now empty house.
He said: “My nephew had a party with his friends in the house where he killed my sister three days after the incident and shared the images about it on social media.”
The killer faces aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of “deliberately killing a close relative” while the other defendant, Furkan Salih Gürek, is facing between 15 and 20 years in prison for “aiding and abetting in the committing of a crime”.
The case continues while the defendants are in custody.
