A “disgusting” video showing two teenagers throwing a small cat against the wall of their house has caused outrage among social media users.
The footage shows two adolescent boys laughing as they pick up a white kitten by its hind legs and lunge it across the room and against the wall of their house.
The cat falls to the floor on its side and runs and hides behind a wardrobe – but its torment isn’t over.
In a second clip, the other teen retrieves the cat and throws it again, this time the animal lands on its feet and weakly shuffles under the table.
The videos, shared on social media, shows the moment the teens are throwing the cat to the wall and against the roof of the house.
Appallingly, the teens laugh throughout whilst the cat can be heard meowing repeatedly.
Social media users, understandably upset by the footage, have called out the teens and demanded local authorities to investigate the case and take legal measures against them.
One person wrote on Facebook: “My God, what a disgusting idiot, they need to smack these hateful imbeciles. Can anybody please tell me how the cat is?”
A second person said on Twitter: “I hope the prosecution is doing its job and that the judge will give them the maximum punishment!
“Otherwise, here you have our future murderers!”
According to national newspaper Excelsior, the videos were taken in the municipality of Teapa, in the southern Mexican state of Tabasco by two teens named locally as Cristian Alexander Villegas and Hassan Pastenes Hernandez.
The congress of Tabasco passed the initiative to reform the penal code of the state in order to make animal abuse a crime in May last year, according to the title.
Animal abuse and animal cruelty crimes could be punished with six months to eight years of jail term under this law.
There has been no further information as to whether authorities are investigating the case or the health of the animal.
