Katy Philips at idealo said: “Comparing prices across a range of products can truly help you find a better deal. At a time where saving money is paramount for some, being able to check multiple retailer costings at once can prove a hugely helpful resource. We’re expecting buying habits of this Christmas to be very different from previous years, with further emphasis on home working and entertainment, as well as products that improve our health and wellbeing.
“Online prices fluctuate all the time and many retailers use dynamic pricing algorithms to automatically adjust their prices according to a range of factors including supply, demand, competition, market trends, events, and even the weather! So the reasoning behind certain days being cheaper than others lies most likely in outside factors, the most common being retailers wanting to make sure their prices stay attractive and competitive against the competition.
“The cheapest times to buy each item vary, so while the predicted days in our research can serve as a guide for consumers, the best way to make the biggest savings is to start your research early and set price alerts, particularly for big ticket purchases.”
