With the rise of Omicron in African countries, including South Africa, doubts have been raised about whether the Indian team will tour South Africa. Although all speculations have been put to an end, the BCCI’s annual general meeting in Kolkata has announced that the tour will take place, but there are some changes in the schedule.

India were scheduled to play three Tests, three ODIs and four Twenty20 Internationals in South Africa. But under the changed circumstances, the four-match T20 series has been postponed for the time being. Earlier it was decided that India would arrive in South Africa on 7 or 9 December. The first Test in Johannesburg was scheduled to start on December 16. The Boxing Day Test was scheduled to start on December 26 at Centurion. The third and final Test was scheduled for January 3 in Cape Town. The one-day series was scheduled for January 11, 14 and 16.

But in the current scenario, India’s move to South Africa has been delayed by a week. Cricket South Africa has announced a new tour schedule within 48 hours. However, it has been learned that the first Test will be played at Centurion from December 26. The second Test will be played in Johannesburg from January 3. The third Test will start on January 11 or 12 in Cape Town. There will be one-day series matches. Cricket South Africa has promised to create a world class Bubble Safe Environment or BSE to ensure the safety of cricketers.
The Netherlands decided to return to the country without playing the last two matches of the one-day series against South Africa in fear of Omicron. Cricket South Africa had to postpone three four-day matches in the fourth round of Division 2 due to corona attack by some cricketers. However, the BCCI did not bring back the Indian ‘A’ team touring South Africa. The second unofficial test ended yesterday. The third match will start from Monday. In the second match at Bloemfontein, Bengal’s Ishan Porel took three wickets in two innings. Hanuma Bihari scored 54 in the first innings and 72 in the second innings. Sarfaraz Khan scored 71 and Ishan Kisan 49 in the first innings. Abhimanyu Aishwaran scored 55 in the second innings. Bihari remained unbeaten on 72 runs.
