Three women arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder newborn baby

Three women have been arrested on charges of plotting to murder a newborn.

The girl’s body was found at the intersection of Victoria Street and Old Commercial Road in Portsmouth on January 25.

A 39-year-old woman, aged 21 and aged 20, all from Portsmouth, was arrested Tuesday on charges of conspiracy to commit murder.

All three are currently in custody.

Hampshire Police Chief Superintendent Simon Baker said, “We know that this case was disturbing to many people in the community.

“We want to assure you that our officers are trained to handle sensitive investigations such as these, which can often be very complex, and will do whatever it takes to achieve the right outcome for everyone involved.”
