US Marshal 'shot in head' and killed at George Floyd Las Vegas protest – reports

A US Marshal has reportedly died after being shot in the head at a George Floyd protest in Las Vegas.

The officer was fired on in front of the Circus Circus Hotel & Casino with dozens of police cars rushing to the scene, 8 News reports.

Another protester was reportedly shot outside the city’s federal courthouse during the demonstrations.

Several police cars have been pictured outside the UMC Hospital, where the officer is thought to be receiving treatment.

Protests have spread across the country since Mr Floyd’s tragic death in police custody last week.

Police officer Derek Chauvin was filmed pinning his head to the ground for at least eight minutes in disturbing footage that emerged from Minneapolis.

The unarmed 46-year-old was arrested for allegedly using a fake $20 note in a shop.

Chauvin was afterwards sacked along with three other officers – and has since been charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.

The video went viral and sparked an international outcry, with protesters outraged at repeated police brutality against black people.
